Position Overview
We are seeking a Junior Mechanical Design Engineer to support our design and engineering teams in developing mechanical components and systems. This role involves assisting in the creation of detailed CAD models, drafting technical drawings, performing basic engineering calculations, and collaborating with senior engineers to bring designs from concept to production.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in designing mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or other CAD software.
Prepare detailed engineering drawings, models, and documentation per company and industry standards.
Conduct basic engineering calculations to support design decisions (stress analysis, tolerance stack-ups, etc.).
Collaborate with senior engineers to refine designs and ensure manufacturability.
Work with the production team to address design-related manufacturing issues.
Participate in design reviews and contribute to product development discussions.
Research materials, components, and new manufacturing techniques to enhance designs.
Support testing and prototyping efforts by creating test plans and analyzing results.
Ensure that designs comply with relevant industry standards and safety regulations.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
0-3 years of experience in mechanical design (internship experience counts!).
Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar CAD software.
Understanding of engineering principles, including mechanics, thermodynamics, and material science.
Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, injection molding, and sheet metal fabrication.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Eagerness to learn and grow within a fast-paced engineering environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with FEA (Finite Element Analysis) or CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) is a plus.
Familiarity with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems.
Hands-on experience with prototyping and testing.
